ISI, ANP, PPP, Blackwater behind civilian killings: TTP

MIRANSHAH: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed that attacks on Friday and others targeting civilians were carried out by the Inter-Services Intelligence agency, the Awami National Party, the Pakistan People’s Party and Blackwater, “to malign the group”. “We deem un-Islamic killings haram, as we believe in jihad,” TTP spokesman Azam Tariq said in a statement issued to the local media. The statement came hours after a suicide attack on the ISI’s regional headquarters in Peshawar killed security personnel and civilians. He, however, did not say which attacks his organisation had launched in recent days. “All these killings by the infamous Blackwater are aimed at maligning the Taliban,” said Tariq. “The TTP does not believe in killing of innocent citizens, and we will hold those who are doing this accountable.” He said people should keep a close eye on those who were killing innocent people, and “they should stand by the Taliban”. The recent wave of terror attacks – targeting mostly innocent civilians – has sparked outrage against the Taliban, with public opinion fast swinging in favour of a military offensive in South Waziristan. staff report
